Get your hands dirty and take your plant home

Workshop · Kokedama, a living moss planter

Making your own kokedama is about getting your hands dirty and enjoying it.

Everyone makes their own natural planter out of soil and moss.

It is an ancient Japanese technique in which plant and moss become one.

How payment works

These are two separate payments, and they are not collected by the same person.

You pay €10 here, to Temperato, for refreshments: brunch. That secures your place and you get the confirmation by email straight away, with the address and the time.

The remaining €15 is paid on the day, at the workshop itself. That amount goes entirely to @kimona_kokedamas: Temperato receives no part of it. It covers the workshop and all the materials.

What a kokedama is

A natural planter made of soil and moss, with no pot. It is an ancient Japanese technique in which plant and moss are one: the root is wrapped in a ball of substrate covered with living moss.

What you will do

Your own kokedama, from start to finish. It is about getting your hands dirty and enjoying it: you prepare the ball of soil, set the plant in it and cover it with moss, guided at every step.

I have never done anything like this

You do not need to have. The workshop is guided step by step and no previous experience is required: just the urge to work with your hands and take something living home.

What I take home

Your kokedama, made by you during the workshop, ready to hang or to stand at home.

Do I need to bring anything

No, all the materials are included. Just one thing: come in clothes you do not mind getting dirty, because you will be working with soil and damp moss.

How many places there are

Places are limited and booking closes once they are full. At least 6 people are needed for the workshop to go ahead. If that minimum were not reached, we would let you know and you could choose between a full refund of your reservation or moving it to another date — it is in the workshop cancellation policy.

Where exactly it is

Temperato Lorca, in Plaza Calderón — C. Dr. Arcas Meca, 1. Sunday 8 November, at 11:00 am, lasting about 2 hours. Come five minutes early: we start on time.
